Shameless, shameless pandering…
While we’re certain that the local judges who picked the nominees for the 2007 BAMA awards are intelligent and discerning (and quite possibly on our mailing list), we notice that there’s a certain band in which we play that was left off the list. Not that there aren’t many talented and fun (and quite possibly on our mailing list) musicians deserving of nominations on the ballot, but we feel that any ballot is empty and incomplete without the Exhibit(s) there.
Fortunately, there are write-in slots in all the categories, and so we’re asking for your help. You can either pick up a copy of this week’s Birmingham Weekly (the one with the BAMAs cover story) or go online over to www.bhamweekly.com, www.myfoxal.com, or www.bhammag.com and write us in — I personally think that Eric McGinty deserves to be up there on the male vocalist list, and that Avery Ellis presents: The Exhibit(s) in ‘Devil Took the Wheel’ (music from, inspired by, and completely unrelated to the motion picture Hide & Creep) should be up for album of the year — and how we didn’t get nominated for performer of the year when we regularly do the stupid things we do live is completely out of my grasp.
Not sure how long you have to vote, or if you can vote repeatedly (not that I would ever advocate ballot stuffing, except when I do), but I encourage you to vote for Eric, if not all of us — he’s horribly humble and easily embarrassed, you know.
Any of you that have forgotten how entertaining (translation: drunk) we can be can come to Bailey’s Pub tonight, Friday, 1/26/07, from 10:30 until someone falls down. As always, there’s no cover charge, and the drinks have lots of liquid in them, and we’ll probably do something that we’ll forget until the blackmail photos arrive in
the mail.
