What started as a way to get behind a computer at work in the days at an audio post-production house became a compulsion to rearrange and tweak pixels on a screen. Aside from dabbling on personal works (see Works), I have done freelance print work for places like Private Air magazine and Birmingham Weekly, weekly front page "covers" for RevolutionSF.com, CD booklets for local musicians, and served for a few months as interim Art Director at Birmingham Weekly.
Award-winning screenwriter becomes determined director of stuff -- that's how it goes, right? To date, I have directed three short films from my own scripts: GOODNIGHT, MOON (2002), FIRST TIME AROUND... AGAIN (2003), and SILENCE (2003), each of which has been accepted to and shown at the Sidewalk Film Festival. I have directed two music videos for Lunasect (EMPTY EYE and 33 Degrees AND RAINING). I have done three Sidewalk Scrambles (48-hour film competitions) (resulting in MOVIES ARE ONIONS, TOO ; WHAT PRICE, ETERNITY?; and TvÅ RÖrmontÖr och Fyra Het Hyndan ) and a 36-hour documentary competition (TAG).
Projects in pre-production include shorts GOOD MORNING, APOCRYPHA and Muckfuppet; I am also beginning the serious approach ot filming my first feature, The Beauty of Distance, a script which was a finalist in the 2000 Sidewalk Festival.
Aside from my current freelance clients, I have spent too much time since 1997 programming websites like this one, from personal ventures to professional work at Hecklers, Inc., and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Aside from screenplays, I have extensive experience with what Steve Martin calls "the interesting words usements I structure." I have contributed CD and music reviews and features to Birmingham Weekly, as well as four cover stories. I spent one year as the comics editor for RevolutionSF.com, preceded by a year writing for all three of the Hecklers, Inc., sites: ANT (video games), Hecklers (humor and satire), and Zealot (science fiction and horror). I have done freelance pieces for Private Air Magazine, and regularly consult for Mental_floss.
My script for the beauty of distance (co-written with Lance Lyle) was a finalist in the 2000 Sidewalk Film Festival feature-length script competition. That year, I also won the competition for Best Short Script for a piece that I have long since lost. Following years saw the scripts for first time around... again, The Art of Self-Defense, and muckfuppet place as finalists in the short script competition (since renamed to the Sidewrite competition).
I have numerous short scripts finished, as well as one feature length horror script (angels never answer) completed.
And like every other writer you'll ever meet, the world is littered with my unfinished works: multiple feature length scripts, short ideas scribbled in mulitple notebooks, and a novel.
